Well the Lightning just can't contain the Av's stars, even after shutting down Eric Lindros for 2 games in a row the Lightning still find themselves shaking their heads as in game 3 Mats Sundin came to the forefront for Colorado and scored the winning and insurance markers.
The Lightning came out strong and looked energized by the return of Chris Osgood, they outshot Colorado 12-6 and thanks to a O'Neill slapshot they had a 1-0 lead.
Tides changed in the second as the Av's held Tampa to 3 shots while firing 11 of their own at Osgood. Hedjuk's 10th of the playoffs and Sundins 1st of the game put the Av's up 2-1 after 2. Then as insurance early in the 3rd the Av's used another goal from Sundin to secure the win and take a 2-1 lead in the series.
POST GAME COMMENTS:
Sundin, on his 2 goal effort,"Well I really felt that we needed to just get some shots and net and that would lead to goals, so when I got the puck I shot it and when I didn't I was driving hard to the net."
Osgood, on his first game back after injury,"The neck felt 100% I think we hung in their tough tonight, are boyz have always felt we can play with anyone and Colorado isn't any different. We just need to play our game and we should be alright."
Commish Nielson, on the series so far, "I think the fans of the TFNHL are being entertained and I certainly think we have a rivalry on our hands as both of these teams get more intense with every faceoff."
